Review for the fried chicken sandwich and fries. A top-tier fried chicken sandwich, and near top-tier fries. The sandwich was a generous breast, perfectly cooked and sauced--slightly sweet with a hint of spice, neither dry nor wet, crisp breading and skin, flawless--and complemented by a slightly oversized potato bun that unlike most of its kind held shape and did NOT get soggy, while not sacrificing an ounce of flavor. Generously cut pickles, an excellent slaw relish with onions and carrots, and American cheese. Fries were perfectly salted and double-fried for peak crispiness. About the only complaint I have is one of my paper bag handles tore off, but that may well have been user error. Oh, and the woman at the counter addressed me by name and was extremely kind. I sit here on a bench at 6th Ave and Bedford in 25-degree weather, wholly content. Thank you, Butter, and see you soon.

Probably the best halal chicken burger I've had in nyc. I got the buffalo chicken burger which was one of their new monthly flavors. It tasted like I was eating a buffalo chicken wing, and I mean that in the best way possible. Meat very tender as well while still having that crunch you want from a chicken burger. My husband got the beef smash burger and ranked it as top 2 smash burgers he's had in the city. The fries were pretty standard, nothing to complain about. There's not much seating but most people take their food to go anyways so you can usually grab a seat. Marking as my go to spot for chicken burgers

Butter Smashburgers is a bit of a mixed bag for me. The interior is kinda unique and nice (when they have emptied the trash recently, that is). The burger itself was quite good, but the cheese fries were kind of terrible. The fries themselves are nothing special, and the cheese is just that nasty cheep nacho cheese goo you get on chips at a crappy movie theater. The burger is definitely something worth trying, but I can't recommend the fries.

Simple but very delicious smashburgers here, and well priced for nyc standards (a single burger was $7 all in). All components are great - the meat is delicious, potato bun, melty american, pickle, onion, and their sauce. A very nice and quick burger

Not gonna lie best burger I've had I've tried multiple smash burgers from numerous locations n this place was the best it's pretty popular in the area surprised it took me so long to find it the menu is very small less than 10 items I believe but with a burger like that you don't need to sell much more.

Solid Smashburger spot! I thought their double cheeseburger was a little salty and could use more sauce but it was still delicious. Their fried chicken sandwich was also amazing - juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. It also comes with this ranch like sauce which we asked for extra on our cheese fries - a must do. The fries were thin and crispy and the melted cheese actually tasted like real cheese. The space is small with a few bar counter stools and tables on the sidewalk. If you don't like it or are craving another burger, 7th street burger is literally 3 doors down so it's a win win regardless.

Make way for a new a smashburger location and this one brings finesse from their packaging to the overall vibe/decor of the space on MacDougal Street. I ordered a classic cheeseburger which includes their own sauce, pickles, and grilled onions. My only critique is that the bun is too soft which absorbs the sauce and patty so if you order and take to go, you might run the risk of soggy buns and getting cold. So I would recommend eating it at the moment which is the best option. The fries were your classic crispy one that pairs perfectly with the burger. The attention to detail on packaging from the to-go bag, burger box, and fries cup was top tier because it can have its own photoshoot. The location stands out on MacDougal Street since it's their take on a classic burger joint but futuristic with white bright lights, indoor metal chairs. They do have outdoor seating as well. Plus a huge mirror to take pictures with your friends or by yourself with your stylish to-go bag order. The cashier was super kind and attentive when placing my order since it was quite busy when I arrived with orders being placed and ready to be picked up. They call out your name for the order so be ready to pick up so you can enjoy it still warm and fresh. I would recommend adding this to your list of smashburgers to try in Manhattan. Or come over as a late night bite while hanging out in the West 4th area

Butter may have 7th Street beat for me... but it might just be the ice cream. The people working here are efficient and kind. Their smashburger has a pillowy bun and their fries are perfectly crispy. I am a huge soft serve fan and I love being able to get chocolate syrup on top! The only thing that would make it better would be sprinkles.
